Dynamic Web Design Through Good Website NavigationIf there is one group of impatient people, it is web surfers. If a website is hard to figure or if the links are not so obvious, they will not hang around trying to figure out how the whole thing works. They will simply click away and what is more, they may never come back because of the initial first experience. Indeed, website navigation is one of the most crucial elements that determine the effectiveness of a website. A dynamic web design must have good navigation to be effective. First and foremost, good website navigation must make sense to an average person. This does not however mean that your creativity has to be thrown out of window. Rather, any navigation that you use has to have similarity to other navigation layouts common to other websites. You cannot afford to incorporate unique navigation layouts as this will compromise the websites effectiveness. In order to do this, always keep in mind the basic purpose of the website and the target audience. Websites generally have either of the two purposes to inform or to sell. In dynamic web design there is a rule known as the 3 Click Rule. This rule states that every page on a website should be reachable within 3 clicks. Studies have shown that users will rarely click more than 3 times to locate the information they are looking for. Yes, navigation on websites requires simplicity to its simplest degree. In addition, it is not recommended that you use splash pages on a website as this will detract from the whole simplicity idea. If it is not necessary, do not include. Remember also that most users are not interested in entertainment, but rather they are looking for information. So try to give the information as easily as possible.Dynamic web design also takes into consideration the navigation elements locations. A top menu bar should be located below the page header if such a design is used. Include a drop down menu and a hyperlink for each of these. Left side navigation is typically implemented as columns and like the top menu it can include an expanding menu. A right side navigation, though rarely used is implemented as a column. Bottom menus are used for graphics, text links and the footers are exclusively text links. Once you have the navigation layout laid out, its time to go live and in business. =PQU]89hhchhch34
