Jobs For Teens Are Harder To Find

Some jobs for teens are not your cool jobs, as most teens would want them to be. Working at McDonalds or Wendys seems like the easiest job for a teen to get, but it is never their first choice. Throughout the summer, a lot of companies hire teens for summer help, but when the summer is over, so is the job. Then it is back to the fast-food industry that hires teens without blinking an eye.

One reason it is not easy to find jobs for teens is because of the labor laws. You can not work a child too hard, or for too long. The lists of what a teen can and can not do can be too much for companies to abide by, and they will shy away from hiring a lot of teens, especially if an adult applies to the same position. The long hours a child work are not the only issue, but the times a child can work to is also the issue. Some states require a child not work beyond a certain time, which is not a good thing for companies who hire teens to cover the last or late shift.

Another reason jobs for teens are harder to find is because of school. School is a top priority, and permits are required for the student to even work. If the teen has a working permit, you must abide by the order. This is where the hours a child can work will really hurt if it is during the school year, verses the summer. The fact that the teen can not work during school hours is one thing, but when they can not work more than four hours after school, it is also an issue to find people to cover the late shift. This causes employees to pass on teens, or to offer them small hours or work during the week.

Jobs for teens can be an issue when both parents work, and transportation is limited. Getting the teen, who may not have a driving permit to work, is a real issue. That is why some teens will want to work at school as a tutor, or at home as a babysitter, because they do not have to worry about finding a way to work, or a way home from work. Also, there school work can get done, and the job does not cause their grades to slip.

Cool jobs for teens usually do not exist, unless you are almost out of your teens. It is then when you can work long hours, or real world hours because you are no longer in school. With those types of hours, comes higher pay, but also higher responsibility.
