Acne comes about as a result of blocked pores especially on the face. This leads to the trapping of sebum under the skins surface since it cannot breath and this results into black and white heads. The known acne is a random occurrence whose cause is not clearly defined. Touching the skin has been attributed to the formation of acne. Another of the acne causes is picking the skin and it is highly advised against since it causes blemishes. Other acne causes include the use of bad cosmetics. Many times, people may use cosmetics that do not agree with their skin composition and this ends up forming acne. It is important for people to know their skin types before settling on any cosmetic. A dermatologist who is qualified in this field can aid this. Stress is another major acne cause and people are advised to avoid stressful conditions as much as they can. Birth control pills are also known acne causes and it is important for people to get to know the side effects of these pills.
Hormones are also listed as acne causes since they have an influence on the sebaceous glands. The diet that people feed on also causes acne and people need to eat healthy and eliminate the foods that react with their skin. A deficiency in vitamins also causes acne and people need to ensure that they eat a healthy diet. Acne occurs in two types namely, non-inflammatory and flammatory acne. The intensity of each differs with how extensive it appears on the skin. In non-inflammatory acne, blemishes that are not inflamed occur on the skin. These blemishes can either be black or white heads. White heads as the name insinuates are white in color and they occur when sebum is trapped under the skin. Black heads occur when the sebum oxidizes on the skins surface thus causing a black blemish. When it comes to their healing, black heads take longer to clear due to their intensity. The skin bears the black spots for longer and this can be very uncomfortable. Inflammatory acne on the other hand occurs in two forms; a papule and pustule. A papule occurs when the inflammation of the pores takes place. This inflammation is caused by a reaction with the white blood cells on a broken follicular wall.
A pustule on the other hand occurs after the white blood cells have found their way to the skins surface. It forms into a pimple or a zit and appears as if it has pus in it. With an inflamed lesion, a person is not safe since it ends up bursting and this inflames the skin around the lesion causing further damage. Milia are another form of acne that is common in both children and adults. It appears like a rash and it is less harmful than the other types of acnes. They can be treated by use of a cosmetic that improves their appearance, which only a qualified physician should prescribe.
