If you want to get into shape, or just to feel a little better by getting some extra exercise into your day, you may be considering the gym. However, for many, considering is about as far as they get. Gyms can be intimidating for many, and some refuse to go work out when they are not in shape from the get go. Therefore, these people are always looking for ways to get a little workout in without signing up for a gym membership they will never use. One great way to get something in at home is to get a door frame pull up bar. These are great if you can use them correctly.

The door frame pull up bar is rather new to the market, but the idea of having a pull up bar in a doorway is not. People have done this for a long time. The bars were just installed differently. For the most part, they were screwed or nailed into the frame to make sure they stayed up where they belonged. Today, however, you do not have to put holes in your door frames to have pull up bars in your home. The ones you get today can come so that they have no need to be permanently attached to anything in your home.

Some people don't look twice at the door frame pull up bar as an at home alternative to the gym because they assume that a door frame is a bad idea because you would hit your head on the top of the frame. If you are hitting your head, you are not doing it correctly. Instead, you would arch your back slightly so that your head goes outside of the frame. Just make sure you dust up there so you don't get a nose full of dust each time you do a pull up. And of course, make sure you don't kick anyone.

It may have been easy for you to do pull ups when you were a child, but if you are an adult, out of shape, and trying to do pull ups again for the first time in a long time, you may not get very far. That does not mean that a door frame pull up bar is not right for you. In fact, this can be the challenge that you need to keep you motivated. You may be able to do a few at first, or perhaps you can not quite get up there once. That's okay, because as you work at it you will get stronger and you will get there.

Not a lot of women think that a door frame pull up bar is the right exercise tool for them, but that is just not true. One of the biggest complaints women have when they have lost weight and are trying to tone up is that they have flabby upper arms. This is one of the best way to combat that problem. While pull ups will not always tighten up excess skin, you can tone that area to a degree. Women often ignore arm strength when working out, which can be a mistake. If you are a women and want to use one of these, by all means try it. You will be glad that you did.
