I'm probably one of the most absent-minded people you'll ever meet in your life. If my family goes on vacation to Hawaii, I'm the one who forgets my swimsuit. If I need to buy five things from the grocery store, I'll return home with just four. If I do a load of laundry, I sometimes forget to add the detergent. I guess I'm just so busy thinking about other things that I have trouble paying attention to what I'm doing!
While the examples I listed above are pretty harmless on the whole, there are other times when my absent-mindedness poses a major inconvenience. For instance, I frequently lock myself out of the house and have to wait around for someone else to come home -- all the while being unable to take my dog out for a much-needed walk (resulting in an accident that I have to clean up) or unable to get dinner going. That's why I'm so glad I finally invested in keyless door locks for my home.
Keyless door locks aren't just for high-tech office buildings anymore! They have many residential applications as well, and since they're surprisingly affordable these days, they're a great alternative to those of us tired of having to keep track of a bunch of keys. I've had keyless door locks installed on my gate, at the front and back entrances, and the garage, so now I can access any part of my property without worrying about whether or not I have the right key on hand. All I had to do was commit the four-digit codes to memory (I'm actually good with numbers like this), and keep a copy of the codes in my wallet just as a backup.
At first, I was a bit concerned about how safe keyless door locks are compared to their more traditional counterparts, but the salesman I talked to really put my mind at ease. In fact, I learned that keyless door locks are actually a lot safer because they're impervious to picks and other common burglary tools. So long as you don't divulge the access code to anyone, your doors won't be any more susceptible to break-ins than before.
Keyless door locks are available at most home improvements stores or from online retailers as well. While it's possible to install them yourself, I'd recommend having a professional locksmith come and do it just to make sure that everything ends up working properly. After all, you don't want to take any unnecessary risks with your family's safety on the line!
Keyless door locks have certainly helped simplify my life, and rank as one of the smartest purchases I've ever made. At least now I don't have to obsess about lost keys anymore!
