IQ Ratings

No matter what you think about IQ scores, you have to admit that knowing that you have a high one is reassuring. It is true that different people have different opinions about IQ ratings, but no one really wants to get a low score on a test that is supposed to measure intelligence. Even if IQ intelligence tests aren't really a reliable determination of your mental abilities, they do seem to hold a certain cultural cachet. With the MENSA High IQ society out there, and the scores of various public leaders a matter of public record, no one wants to have the stigma of having a below-average IQ.

The interesting thing that no one talks about is that you can actually change your IQ rating. It is true that IQ ratings are more powerful than most tests as a measure of intelligence, but obviously they do not show anything absolute. If they did, study would not improve your intelligence and mental lassitude would not damage it. From all signs, however, intelligence is not an absolute quantity. It is something that changes and evolves throughout our lives just like any other skill. Unlike physical abilities, however, you can continue to improve your IQ ratings from the time you are born until you get very old.

A lot of people recommend you take actions to increase your intelligence before you actually go out and get an IQ score. That way, you will not be self-conscious about your intelligence levels and will feel less pressure. By practicing doing some creative problem-solving exercises, you can start taking care of any shortcomings in your IQ rating before you even know about them. Look at it as an opportunity to improve your own mind instead of a way to make up for some deficit you may or may not have.

Of course, there are some people who like to have a very clear measure of where they stand before they get started with any project. For these people, IQ ratings are important. The easiest way to get your IQ rated is, of course, to take a free online test. This will not necessarily give you a completely accurate result, but it will give you some baseline to know where you are at. Alternately, you can schedule a professional IQ test. These tests take several hours, but they're not difficult to set up or prohibitively expensive.
