Marriage Statistics

No matter where you look to research marriage statistics, all of the facts and numbers look pretty bleak. Lets face it til death do us part just doesnt cut it anymore. Instead, it sounds more like til we grow tired of one another and go separate ways. Almost fifty percent of all marriages will end in divorce. As the years go on, the marriage statistics show that that percentage rate is climbing steadily. Open up the phonebook and look for an attorney youll see that divorce lawyers are a dime a dozen. Getting out of a marriage is simply too easy these days. No wonder the marriage statistics are out of control. Prenuptial agreements make it even less painful to end a marriage and be certain that your spouse cannot touch anything that was deemed off limits before the marriage vows even took place. The creation of a prenuptial agreement almost frowns upon the entire meaning of marriage. It almost dooms a marriage to failure before it begins.

Part of the reason that marriage statistics are atrocious is because couples arent in it forever anymore. As soon as the tough gets going, they run for the hills. Forget about standing beside one another in rough times. Instead of encouraging each other and wanting to see each other through the bumps in lifes roads, they consult with a divorce attorney and start signing papers. They then start the battle for splitting possessions, child support, custody and spousal support. Marriage statistics also have shown that interestingly enough, it is becoming more common that couples spend more time arguing over their assets and support than their marriage even lasted. Talk about crazy. Nasty divorces and settlements can drag on for months even years. The marriage may not have survived the one year anniversary. This is what our society sees as being normal.

In looking at marriage statistics, you will see that they are not encouraging. In fact, for single individuals, they just may be a reason to not get married. Why get married when the odds of failure are stacked so high against you? People dont get married to stay together anymore; they get married just to get divorced. They dont seek counseling or resolution. People tend to be in too much of a hurry to move forward. Why spend time trying to fix something that probably cant be fixed when you could be moving on to something better in your life? Marriage statistics show that more and more people are giving up before they even are giving their marriage a fair chance, and seeing what else the world has to offer.

If youre struggling in your marriage, why become another statistic? Why not try to find a way to make the marriage work? Why become another percentage rate when it comes to marriage statistics?
