No matter how well you keep your home, you are going to have to worry about a bug or two getting in on occasion. A ladybug here and there may not bother you too much, but a line of ants going from your living room to your kitchen may be a bit too much to ignore. Ants are not the only insects that could invade your home. When the time comes to deal with such a matter, you have to think about indoor pest control. Some things you can deal with on your own, and other times, you may have to call in the professionals.
If you are dealing with ants, there are things for indoor pest control that you can do cheaply and easily. There are small traps that you can buy that lure the ants in where they die after ingesting what is inside. If your problem is rather small, this is the best solution. However, if you have children or pets, this may not be a good idea. If you can place the traps out of reach of both, you may be okay. You do not want to take the chance that your beloved cat or dog gets into one, or that your child may find one and put it into his or her mouth. Use caution when you use these, but know they can be very effective.
There are other types of bugs, like ladybugs or stink bugs, that can get into your home. If you just find one or two here and there, it may not be a worry. Just get rid of them. If your kids love bugs, they may want to help you catch and release them outside. If they seem to come fast and out of nowhere, your indoor pest control strategy may be to find where they are getting in so that you can close that area up. At times, this is all that you have to do to control such a problem as long as it is a small problem.
Gnats or fruit flies can be a problem in some houses in the warmer months. These critters can not survive if they do not have something to eat. Indoor pest control in this case may just be a matter of doing a few small things to make them disappear. Make sure you have no rotting food (like an old banana) sitting around. Wipe up crumbs and clean out your toaster. Let bleach set in the trap of your drains for a few hours to kill any that live in there, and clean out your dishwasher. These things often clear out fruit flies rather effectively.
At times, indoor pest control may be beyond what you can handle on your own. If you have rodents or perhaps you have a stinging insect like bees or wasps in your home, it might be time to call in the professionals. If you find a bat, or bat droppings, never try indoor pest control on your own. Call in someone who knows what they are doing, as these problems can be a bit more serious than just a few bugs in your home. Bat droppings can be poisonous, and rodents are known to carry disease. If anyone in your home is allergic to bee sting, and you find them in your home, go somewhere else immediately until someone can find and get them out for you.
