Easter Crafts

Youve managed to distract the kids with an elaborately executed Easter egg hunt for an hour or so, but the house and yard are only so big and there are only so many eggs you can hide away. Sooner or later someone is going to win, or nobody will because you made the eggs too darn hard to find (trying to keep them occupied for as long as possible but backfiring), but either way the egg hunt is going to come to an end and the kids will no longer be amused. So now what do you do egg-sactly?

You supply them with entertaining Easter crafts, of course. Coloring Easter eggs never gets old. Boil a bunch of eggs, and then get some Easter egg dye kits. With old-school egg dying you used to just have a metal ring to hold the egg and dip in into the dye for a solid colored Easter egg and that was already amazing in itself but these days you dont get just color anymore, you can actually decorate your Easter eggs with all sorts of crazy patterns and designs: tie-dye, checkers, kitsch, polka dots and more using other dying materials like stencils and crepe paper. People of the younger generation dont know how good they have it. Anyway, another good thing about painting eggs as Easter crafts is that theyre like an artsy activity and a meal in one because you can peel the shell and eat them afterward: that is, if your child can bear to let you destroy one of their beautiful creations. Youll have more luck if you eat the practice Easter eggs or the ugly ones, or if your kids went completely Easter egg dye-happy and popped out so many that it wont matter if a couple of them go missing.

Or there are other Easter crafts that dont involve sacrificial feasting, like making cute little Easter baskets, Easter hats, Easter bunny paraphernalia, and much, much more. Look on the internet and youll be bombarded with suggestions. Some Easter crafts sites even have people rating each project so that you know which ones are worthwhile and that your kids are more likely to enjoy. Once youve decided which craft ideas you want to share with the children, you can collect the necessary materials at a local crafts shop or make do with supplies from home. A simple brown paper bag could make a good Easter Bunny puppet, for example, or even a thrifty basket. Encourage your kids to be creative and more importantly, encourage them to have fun!
