Do You Need a Window Unit Air Conditioner?

I know this puts me in the minority of people, but I can't stand summer. You might think of beaches, I think of sand everywhere. You think of sunshine, I think of sunburn. You think of nice weather, I think of sweaty, sticky, unbearable, humid heat. If it wasn't for air conditioning, I'd probably move to Alaska. If you are looking to purchase an air conditioner, there's generally three ways to go about it: central air, ductless air conditioner, or a window unit air conditioner. Many people have different opinions about the different options, but I am a proud owner of the window unit air conditioner.

If you are a renter a window unit air conditioner is definitely the way to go. A window unit air conditioner is the most economical solution to the summer heat. You can get a good window unit air conditioner for under one hundred dollars from a number of big box stores. A window unit air conditioner takes minutes to install and even less to bring the room it is installed in to a comfortable level.

Many people complain that when you install a window unit air conditioner there are a couple of problems. Some say that their window unit air conditioner is too loud or ugly. And of course, a single window unit air conditioner can't cool much more than the room it is in. This is true. But if you're a renter like me, you probably can't count on your landlord to supply you with cool air. Having a window unit air conditioner helps make my life better. Could you imagine trying to fall asleep when you're sticking to your sheets? With a window unit air conditioner in the bedroom I never have that problem.

The problem with central air is that you might not be able to install it in many buildings, especially older ones. And if you are renter like me, you can forget about it. Many people are proponents of the new mini split or ductless air conditioners, but they still need substantial installation that as a renter I usually can't do. A window unit air conditioner can go in any room with a window, in any apartment or house in the country.

So if you're looking for the most flexible and economical way to beat the awful summer heat - without moving the Alaska, of course - you should be like me and buy yourself a window unit air conditioner for the rooms that you need cool.
