I have loved winter ski holiday since I was very little. When I got married, it was only natural to continue the tradition. So when my wife suggested one year that we should break our tradition and go on a winter sun holiday, I was more than a little bit skeptical. Winter ski holidays were the way it was done, after all. In the summer, you could have all the sun you wanted just as in the winter you could have all the snow. It seemed obvious to me, but she was very adamant about making a change this year. Another great thing about winter sun vacations is that there are often so few people at the tourist destinations. You are going there in the off-season, after all, which allows you to get a greater degree of solitude than normal. Of course, if you really like to be entertained then you might do better to go during the summer. There will be less events and festivities going on in the winter, and things will be quieter and more laid-back.
