It is also a good idea to have an external hard drive so that you can back up your work and records. Even good computers crash on occasion, so make sure you have multiple means of backing up your business.

Next, you have to have a high speed and reliable Internet connection for your business. Dial up will rarely be enough, and even DSL may be iffy for an Internet based business. If you can get cable Internet, or something faster, you are going to work faster and more efficiently without interruption. Cable or even good DSL will free up your phone lines for phone calls, and will not be interrupted when a call comes in. Find an Internet connection you know you can rely on for your home business needs.

A comfortable chair and desk are a must for any home business. Any business that is going to succeed is one that you are going to put a lot of time into. That means hours and hours of staring at your computer screen to take care of your Internet based business. The wrong chair and even the wrong desk can cause you aches, pains, and even back and neck injuries. Spend a little on a quality set of desk and chair to save yourself a pain in the future. Taking timed breaks helps, but your furniture must be made for long hours on a computer.

You may also want to have a good accounting software program if you are going to have your own Internet based business. You may be able to keep track of your expenses and your income the old fashioned way, but most find that things work out better if they get accounting software to help them out. There are many great ones out there from simple to complex, and some that can work with any size business you need. Software not only takes a lot of work out of tracking everything, it also makes filing much easier when tax time comes along.
