Reality TV shows

It seems that in almost everyones life there comes a moment when they want to be a superstar. Years ago it was virtually impossible to get a job even as an extra on any TV show. Thats not the case anymore as it seems that almost every week new reality TV shows are debuting. For a person determined to have their fifteen minutes of fame, this can be a great route to pursue.

The first step is determining which of the current programs you are most interested in and have the best chance of getting chosen for. If you cant hold a note, you probably want to stay away from reality TV shows like American Idol or Americas Got Talent. Dancers would do well to audition for So You Think You Can Dance.

You dont need to panic if you dont have any natural signing, dancing or acting talent. There is a whole host of reality TV shows that concentrate on intelligence along with persuasion. Think of shows like Survivor and The Apprentice. These require brains along with a sparkling and unique personality.

Of course weve all seen the ones that make us cry. These usually focus on everyday folks who are facing a challenge. They are offered support and encouragement on certain reality TV shows. The goal on these reality TV shows isnt necessarily winning a prize although some do offer a cash reward to whoever performs the best. The Biggest Loser and Extreme Home Make Over: Home Edition fall into this category.

Securing a spot on any one of these programs takes some determination and a great imagination. Most require those interested to send in an audition tape that explains why they are ideal for the show. Most reality TV shows get thousands and thousands of applicants so its important that you stick out from the crowd.

The best way to do this is to be genuine. Present yourself in the best light possible and add an unexpected twist to your audition tape. If you are required to perform an in person audition which is part of the procedure for many of the talent type reality TV shows, dress appropriately and take the time to warm up before singing or dancing.

In the case of the Amazing Race the teams generally consist of two people, and both need to be presented during the audition process. Each should be individual but they need to illustrate that they work well together. Reality TV shows that feature partners or people living together are looking for personalities that can both mesh and clash. After all, thats part of what we all experience everyday in the real world.
