The female sperm will last longer in the woman as the male ones die of more quickly. The key to trying to conceive a boy is knowing when you are going to ovulate. This means the woman needs to keep track of her monthly cycle until she has a pretty good idea. After a few months, most women with a generally regular cycle will have a pretty good idea on which day of her cycle is ovulates each month. Since the male sperm are faster and smaller, but die sooner, you want to have sex the night before or the day of ovulation. This means they can get to the egg more quickly than the slower female sperm.
