Dinosaur Bones

I have been fascinated by dinosaur bones ever since I was a kid. You see, I grew up in a family that really valued museums. We would probably go on a museum trip at least twice a month if not more. We would go to all sorts of museums too. One week we would go to the art museum, another week we would go to a science museum, and a third week we would go to a museum of history. Sometimes, we would even go to multiple museums All in one day.

I liked all of the different places we went to. I was a pretty broadly intellectually curious kid with a lot of patience, so I could easily spend a whole day learning about the Renaissance, the discovery of electricity, or pretty much anything else. My favorite museum, however, was the dinosaur museum. You see, I couldn't get enough of looking at those dinosaurs bones. Strictly speaking, it wasn't a full-fledged dinosaur museum. It was a natural history museum, but it had one of the best dinosaur exhibits out there. There were dinosaur bones of all shapes and sizes. In the middle of the room, there was a gigantic Tyrannosaurus rex. I remember being scared of it, then fascinated when I was a kid. I simply had never seen anything so large and majestic.

That day, my dad surprise me. Seeing how fascinated I was by all of the dinosaur bones, he actually got me a kit of my own. It was basically a home Dinosaur dig it. It was clay that you could whittle away, wash out with water, and otherwise excavate. Hidden within it were miniature replica dinosaur bones. It was a pretty simple concept, but it was a fantastic toy. I remember that feeling of tense excitement I had the first time I started to try to excavate. I did it really slowly, spending much longer than I needed to. You see, I wanted to be careful not to disturb any of the archaeological evidence.

As I got older, my fascination with dinosaur bones remain the same. I bought replica bones, and actually got my hand on a few originals. A friend of mine is involved in excavations, and he has given me a few priceless dinosaur presents. Needless to say, they are prominently displayed in my house. They are among my favorite possessions, and I treat them as such. Every time a guest comes over for the first time, I always show him my dinosaur bones.
